The City of Oujda has created a Municipal Action Plan that includes migration and migrants as one of its six strategic axes, together with Local Governance, Partnership and Decentralized Cooperation,  Basic Infrastructures and Proximity Facilities,  Environment and Sustainable Energy, and Investissement Capacities and Development of Competitive Potential.

RECOMIG / RECOSA projects

Integration is supported in Morocco within the framework the migration projects RECOMIG (‘Strengthening selected municipalities in the management of migration’) / RECOSA (Renforcement des collectivités territoriales marocaines dans l’amélioration des structures d’accueil des migrants), which on the one hand supports state structures at the national level, and on the other hand strengthens selected local actors in the creation of integration measures in the social, economic and cultural area for improvement social cohesion between migrants and the Moroccan population.

My Coop

My.Coop is a project of building capacity of cooperatives towards involving Syrian refugees and Jordanian farmers in agricultural value chains. The project promotes integration and participation of Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians in agricultural livelihood opportunities through enhancing capacities of eight ILO-network cooperatives in the governorates of Irbid and Mafraq in the northern Jordan.

Scaling up remittances and financial inclusion in rural areas through post offices

PostBank Uganda, in partnership with  Posta Uganda and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), is finalizing its remittances business plan and expanding financial inclusion through remittances in rural areas of Uganda, leveraging Posta Uganda’s broad network of rural post offices to expand access to financial services for the rural population. The post offices are being equipped with modern digital and mobile technologies for remittance delivery and financial service transactions, and postal staff is receive specialized training.

Diaspora engagement in agri-business

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)'s rural youth employement and agri-food systems in Ugrana project aims to foster diaspora investments in agricultural value chains in Uganda, by assessing and supporting institutional mechanisms, mapping Ugandan diaspora skills and expertise related to agri-business, and developing a diaspora in agribusiness network and road map for policy dialogue. 

Social Security Fund

Nepal in 2018 introduced a social security scheme to protect and secure employees working in the formal private sector. The contribution-based social security scheme is funded through the contributions made by the workers and the employers.

Every month, tens of thousands of private sector workers and their employers contribute to a common fund which will help needy workers get financial support. Returning migrants can also pay contributions to this Fund and benefit from social entitlements. 

Remit Hydro

Remit Hydro, a subsidiary of the government company Hydro Electricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL), is a concept for the development of hydropower sector in Nepal. A part of the remittance money the country is receiving will be used in the equity investment of hydropower projects. The project aims to promote collective remittances for development and encourage the productive use of remittances.

Returnee Migrant Entrepreneurship Award Program

Returnee Migrant Entrepreneurship Award Program is conducted annually and the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MOLESS) of Nepal. The Program recognizes contributions of returnee migrants from across Nepal who are engaged in innovative entrepreneurship programs. Certificate of recognition and monetary incentives are provided to the awardees.

Mainstreaming the General Principles and Operational Guidelines for Fair Recruitment

The ILO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Fruit and Vegetable Alliance (AHIFORES) to carry out joint work on mainstreaming the General Principles and Operational Guidelines for Fair Recruitment in Mexico. They inded to cooperate on the certification scheme "DEAR", as well as developing a tool box to address recruitment practices in horticulture and vegetable supply chains in partnership with Verité.

Indonesia's 'Village Law' and village development programmes

In 2014, Indonesia issued the so-called ´Village Law´ which intends to push for development in villages and empower villagers in conducting business and economic activities. The law was one of the most significant pieces of legislation since Indonesia began a push for decentralization of power from the center to the regions in 2001.  The law guarantees that the central government allocate a specific amount of funds to Indonesia’s 74,093 villages so that they can finance their own development based on their individual needs and priorities
