Bi-national Migrant Education Program (PROBEM)

The Bi-national Migrant Education Program (PROBEM) targets the educational problem of the migrant population between both countries. It aims to ensure the continuity and quality of children and young people basic education that spend part of their school year in Mexico and another in the USA.  

This program falls under the Mexico-United States Cooperation Initiative on Education that has established programs in the US to facilitate access to education for Mexican migrants and increase their potential to adapt locally.

 

Community Plazas

Community Plaza is a project which incorporates the use of new information and communication technologies applied to education and formation targeting Mexicans residing in the USA. This is a result of joined efforts by several institutions to promote diversified educational actions.

Scholarships from the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME - Becas Program)

The IME-Becas program aims to elevate the educational level of the Mexican population or the Mexican Diaspora residing in the USA, by assigning resources to non-profit organizations. This program falls under the Mexico-United States Cooperation Initiative on Education that has established programs in the US to facilitate access to education for Mexican migrants and increase their potential to adapt locally.

Promotion of Immigrant Entrepreneurship

The project has as main goal to promote the creation of business ventures by immigrants through their training to acquire entrepreneurship skills.

Main activities:

  • Creation and capacity building of a team of trainers and intercultural mediation for entrepreneurship;
  • Mobilisation and strengthening of the partner institutions for the promotion of entrepreneurship;
  • Training and building the capacity of the potential entrepreneurs;
  • Coordination with institutional partners and engagement of other relevant actors.

Temporary and Circular Labour Migration between Portugal and Ukraine

The goals of this scheme are the following: to develop the operational framework and logistical roadmap for the pilot circular migration scheme between Ukraine and Portugal; to test the effectiveness of the established operational framework/logistical roadmap for the pilot through selection of migrant workers and delivering pre-departure and post-arrival trainings; to facilitate the return and effective reinsertion of 50 Ukrainian temporary migrants into the local labour market, through provision of vocational trainings, and; to test the effectiveness of incentives package for circularity t

Center for Migrant Support in the Country of Origin (CAMPO)

CAMPO started as a project in the area of migration that promoted regular mobility between Cape Verde and the European Union (EU): Strengthening the capacity of Cape Verde to manage labour and return migration within the Framework of the Mobility Partnership EU/CV. It provides free counseling services to Cape-Verdean citizens willing to migrate to the EU. It also provided reintegration information to EU retuning Cape Verdean migrants.

Mama learns Greek

A special program called "Mama Learns Greek" -Learning of the Greek Language Tailor-made for Migrant Mothers helps migrant mothers both learn the language and improve their ability to help their children in school. This contributes to gender equality, the integration of mothers and children, cohesion of the family and human development of mothers and children.

This program is also part of the Annual Program of the European Integration Fund, a program that promotes linguistic skills and women’s capacity to assist their children in their schooling and life.

Basic education and healthcare

On education, the government accords basic education in the same manner that Thai children are accorded. And this considering that there are about 60 thousand new born migrant labor in Thailand per year. The children of migrant labor also have access to specifically designed schools for them in their language. In terms of health, Thailand has the universal health coverage system which could be presented as an opportunity to improve the performance of health system services to ensure nondiscriminatory treatment.
