Montreal Inclusive at Work

The City of Montreal is recognised as a metropolis of immigration. However, it is structurally lagging behind in the professional integration of newcomers. In this respect, in 2021 Montreal still had a higher unemployment rate gap between newcomers and native-born people than in other Canadian cities. In response to this challenge, in 2019 the City of Montreal launched "Montreal Inclusive at Work", an innovative initiative to promote the professional integration of immigrants in Montreal, encouraging their hiring, integration, retention and progression in employment.

Green Jobs and Just Transition project

This action was submitted through the GFMD Mayors Mechanism Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees.
As a follow-up to the pilot on the equity impact of job growth tied to green investments realized with C40 Cities in 2021, the City of Milan will launch a second phase of the project aiming to develop a flagship programme on public housing retrofits and construction. This will help the city to move from data collection and analysis to policy making, delivering equitably distributed green jobs through climate action implementation. Youth Work for All

This action was submitted through the GFMD Mayors Mechanism Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees.Not every family finds its way easily to youth work. The youth movements of Mechelen are not yet a reflection and representation of the diversity in our city. The youth service has taken up the challenge to change this with the youth movements and their associations.

Kampala for All: Safety Nets for Recovery

This action has been submitted through the Mayors Mechanism Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees. The Local or regional government submitting this action has signed the Marrakech Mayors Declaration where they commit to endorse the set of cross-cutting and interdependent guiding principles identified in the GCM, and endorse the guiding principles and objectives of the GCR and its programme of action.
