Objective 17: Eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote evidence-based public discourse to shape perceptions of migration

Laguna Province establishes a “One Stop Migration Resource Center”, which serves as the hub for information and support to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families.

The Greater Amman Municipality commits to constructing a public park near Al-Hussein Refugee Camp and establishing the city’s first Children’s Climate Academy to teach Amman’s youngest generation the importance of environmental stewardship.

The M4SD Programme (2019-2023) aimed to harness the development benefits and reduce the negative effects of migration for host and home communities, migrants, and their family members. A key component of this Programme was to showcase how inclusive policies can be implemented locally and how the results contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

OHCHR developed a toolbox, to create human rights-based narratives on migrants and migration. It is based on the UN Human Rights Seven Key Elements on Building Human Rights Based Narratives on Migration and Migrants and the experiences of its partners. 

The Australian Human Rights Commission has launched a plan to develop a National Anti-Racism Framework. The Framework will be a long-term, central reference point to guide actions on anti-racism by government, NGOs, business, educators, health professionals, police, other justice authorities, civil society, and the community.

*foundationClass is a study preparation program at Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin where prospective students can learn about art and design, share their own artistic practice, and build/reconstruct a strong portfolio to apply to German-speaking art and design schools. 

Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched the Citizens Perception Laboratory on Migration, which analyses social media interaction, research, and other sources of information with the help of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data to provide insights into how migration is perceived in Latin America and the Caribbean. This initiative offers information, resources and tools to accompany governments in their response to xenophobia.

ëVoices of Venezuelaí: aims at building a bridge of understanding between cultures, combatting xenophobia, and showcasing the contribution of Venezuelan migrants to their host communities. It developed a series called ëSome Venezuelans Thereí, which provides explanatory videos in animated format to help migrantsí understand relevant processes such as visas/residence permits application, and access to medical care and education.

The Council represents over 200 Australian organisations and, over the last three decades, has conducted advocacy work on a range of policy issues, with a strong focus on campaigning against the conditions of Australiaís offshore migrant processing system in Nauru and Manus Island.
