Objective 21: Cooperate in facilitating safe and dignified return and readmission, as well as sustainable reintegration

This toolkit aims to support local stakeholders and actors in agrifood systems to integrate rural returnees into programmes and other initiatives to develop the agrifood sector. It provides resources to design and implement programmes and projects to facilitate the reintegration of returnees in rural areas. The ultimate objective is to coordinate these reintegration efforts with larger rural development and rural transformation efforts and stimulate mutually reinforcing outcomes that support the achievement of sustainable livelihoods and well-being for local populations.

The process of reintegration into the labour market is complex and dynamic, requiring labour market opportunities, infrastructure, enabling policies, financial and non -financial services, access to assets, education, and healthcare. These guidelines target ILO constituents, development practitioners and other other stakeholders, to provide support and policy in indications for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of effective labour market reintegration policies and measures, targeting return migrant workers and former refugees, upon return in their origin countries.

Indian government launched an unprecedented repatriation programme during the Covid pandemic and has brought nearly 4 million overseas Indian citizens home as of mid December 2020.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive rural transformations, through the creation of decent employment opportunities in rural areas prone to outmigration, while promoting migration as a climate adaptation strategy.

Within the framework of cooperation with Tunisia, the programme developed by the Swiss Confederation aims to involve the Tunisian diaspora in the sustainable development of Tunisia and to promote skilled circular migration between Tunisia and other European countries, including Switzerland.

A program which invites Diaspora Armenian professionals to serve in the public sector and in the government of the Republic of Armenia.

The Republic of Armenia's Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs announces the launch of the ´iGorts 2023ª program, which invites Diaspora Armenian professionals to serve in Armeniaís and Artsakhís government for a duration of one year.

Under the United Nations Migration Network (UNMN) Workplan 2022-2024, the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are working together to develop the Tool to Review the Implementation of the Commitments Related to Addressing Human Mobility in the Context of Disasters, Climate Change and Environmental Degradation – A Baseline Analysis Report Under the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

The UK Safety, Support and Solutions programme aims to protect migrants from harm. Migrant journeys, particularly via the Central Mediterranean Route, are extremely perilous, with migrants facing risks of violence, exploitation and abuse. This programme provides critical humanitarian and protection support to migrants at key junctures along the route. Assistance is offered to migrants in transit and upon return, with a particular focus on victims of trafficking, unaccompanied children, and migrants in very vulnerable situations.

The Migration Strategy 2016-2020 is the third strategic document for Georgia defining migration policy. The strategy reflects an increasing drive, in cooperation with the EU member and other states, to increase the basis for legal migration, and prevent illegal migration, and transnational and trans-boundary organised crime. A special emphasis is given to the development of mechanisms facilitating return and reintegration of Georgian citizens, protection of the rights and integration of persons with refugee or humanitarian status, and asylum seekers in Georgia.
