The Moroccan Network of Journalists on Migration was created in November 2018 in Morocco, and seeks to promote the ethical, balanced and professional reporting of migration issues in Morocco. It aims to provide a space for exchange, reflection, collaboration and mutual assistance on themes relating to migration. 

Visa for Music

Visa for Music, a musical event held in Rabat, is the first professional platform gathering and federating artists of the music industry in Morocco, the Middle East, and Africa. The event provides a space for interprofessional music in Morocco for the countries of the South. Visa for Music Association works on the economy of arts, artistic mobility, and narratives on accepting others.

Refugees Got Talent

Each year the UNHCR organizes, together with the Ministry Delegate for Migration Affairs of Morocco the talent show "Refugees Got Talent" to coincide with World Refugee Day (20 June) in Morocco. The talent show promotes refugee talent and aims to spread an image of refugees based on the contributions that refugees can make to host societies.

The contest, which was hosted for the first time in 2016 by the UNHCR and the Foundation Orient-Occident, is open to all refugees living in Morocco between the ages of 16 and 65 years old.

Mainstreaming Migration into National Development Strategies Phase II

Migration is a global phenomenon affecting all countries worldwide and its effective governance needs global partnerships. It is within this context that, since 2011, IOM and UNDP have been implementing a Joint Global Programme on Mainstreaming Migration (MM) into National Development Strategies with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. 

Morocco's Migration Policies and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration

In Morocco, national consultations were held in September 2017 with civil society and diaspora representivatives, scholars and researchers, represensatives of the private sector and public institutions. These national consultations have enabled Morocco to come with a consolidated contribution to the Global Compact, the "Recommendations of the Kingdom of Morocco on the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration."

Hijra wa Himaya

In 2014, Morocco adopted the National Immigration and Asylum Strategy. It is in this context that the new Hijra wa Himaya project, co-funded by the European Union and UNICEF, promotes the rights of migrant children in Morocco.

Context

The number of children traveling alone across borders has been increasing since 2010. It accounts for 10% of all migrants.

Access to Education Systems

Morocco provides access to public and private schools and non-formal education for migrant children, regardless of administrative status, and has preparatory courses to prepare migrant and refugee children for inclusion in the formal school system.
