The GFMD has played a significant role in exploring the mutually reinforcing relationship between migration and sustainable development. The GFMD Working Group on Sustainable Development and International Migration (previously Ad hoc Working Group on 2030 Agenda and Working Group on 2030 Agenda and the GCM) brings the voice of the Forum in support of its implementation contributing to its follow-up and review process.
An important GFMD contribution to the 2030 Agenda has been the Forum’s annual report to the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). Since 2017, the ECOSOC has been inviting the GFMD to provide inputs on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under review. GFMD side events have been organized on the margins of the HLPF.
