The Philippine government, along with their partners from the civil society organizations, private institutions, and international organizations, has continuously strived to integrate gender in the migration-related legislation. This led to the recent passing of the Republic Act 10801, known as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Law (this May 2016), a new legislation promoting gender responsive migration.

German-Moroccan partnership on asylum and international refugee protection

Context
Morocco is no longer just a country of emigration – it is also a host country. An increasing number of people who are forced to flee their homes in other countries now seek asylum in Morocco. The number of people seeking asylum here has tripled in recent years. In April 2015 the figure stood at 2,937 – with the majority coming from Syria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Côte d’Ivoire. This development poses major challenges for the country.

Migration and integration management

Migration and integration affect various different policy areas, such as education, employment and health. The project supports coordination between the relevant ministries at national level in order to ensure coherent implementation of the national strategy. In addition, exchange and communication formats are created between ministries at national level and local officials in the ten partner municipalities Béni Mellal, Casablanca, Fès, Marrakesh, Nador, Oujda, Rabat, Salé, Tanger and Tiznit to implement the strategy jointly and to draw up policy recommendations.

Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF)

In November 2015, IOM Member States endorsed the Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF), through Council Resolution 1310, which remains the only internationally agreed definition of SDG target 10.7 on implementing well managed migration policies. This tool does not entail any new obligations for Member States, but builds on existing international instruments, norms and research to ensure that migration is governed in an integrated and holistic way.

Alert level classification system

The Philippines Alert level classification system essentially classifies the degree of threat and of immediate danger that the migrant worker is facing. The Global Deal for Decent Work and Inclusive Growth

The Swedish Prime Minister together with ILO, OECD as well as other heads of the State governments including the Bangladeshi Prime Minister launched the  "The Global Deal Initiative for Decent Work and Inclusive Growth" in New York for protection and promotion of migrant workers’ rights. This initiative aims at focusing on social dialogue and addressing the challenges of the emerging global labour market. One important goal is also creating more decent and inclusive jobs. 

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)

Pakistan and China are engaged in a partnership to build China-Pakistan Economic Corridors (CPEC) which aims to enhance connectivity between the two countries through building up of highways and railroads. The goal is to spur economic activity for the mutual benefit of both Pakistan and China as well as for the entire region. 

Indian Community Welfare Fund

The 'Indian Community Welfare Fund' is an institutional model to look after the protection and welfare of Indian migrants. The Ministry has established the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) in the 43 Indian Missions across the world in countries that have a significant overseas Indian population.

Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana

'Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana' is a compulsory insurance scheme for the overseas Indian workers.  The Ministry of External Affairs has framed guidelines for all Indian emigrants going abroad for employment purposes with ECR (Emigration Check Required) endorsement on their passport to compulsorily take out this insurance cover.
