Work Permit to undocumented migrants

Thailand said it would allow undocumented migrant workers from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar to work in the country legally for about two years to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Migrants have to sign up online and be registered by an employer before mid-September in order to receive a work permit until February 2023, according to a resolution by the cabinet.

Temporary Protection Status in Colombia

The Temporary Protection Status (TPS) is expected to benefit over 1.8 million Venezuelans currently living in Colombia and others entering via official checkpoints over the course of two years. The creation of the TPS is an unprecedented event in the country's history and the region because it allows eligible Venezuelans to regularize their stay and reside in Colombia for ten years, which includes accessing a full range of rights such as identification documents, healthcare, education, formal employment, and financial inclusion, among others.

National Strategy on Internal Displacement Management

This strategy has been developed with a view to managing climate-induced internal displacement (CIID) in a comprehensive and rights-based manner. It is part of the action plan for the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) to implement the Sendai Framework. This  comprenhensive approach to displacement would ensure sustainable outcomes as it is in line with the GoB’s Social Development Framework (SDF) and other national and international DRR, CCA policy frameworks. Most importantly, the GoB is committed to implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

 

EU Commission working document Addressing displacement and migration related to disasters, climate change and environmental degradation

This Staff Working Document provides an overview and assessment of existing EU policies, instruments and practices addressing displacement and migration of populations caused by disasters , the adverse effects of climate change and environmental degradation. This document underlines the increased exposure to disasters and the consequences of the current state of management of natural resources and weakened ecosystems.

Mapping Social Cohesion

The Scanlon Foundation Research Institute’s Mapping Social Cohesion study is the pre-eminent source of information on social cohesion in Australia. Running since 2007 and with surveys of the Australian population conducted annually since 2009, the study provides a rich and long-running set of data on social cohesion, immigration, multiculturalism, migrant settlement and integration and a range of other topical issues.

National Anti-Racism Strategy

The Australian Human Rights Commission has launched a plan to develop a National Anti-Racism Framework. The Framework will be a long-term, central reference point to guide actions on anti-racism by government, NGOs, business, educators, health professionals, police, other justice authorities, civil society, and the community.
