Canada have adopted the Start-up Visas Programs to facilitate the inward mobility of entrepreneurs.

The Program targets immigrant entrepreneurs with the skills and potential to build businesses in Canada that:

  • are innovative
  • can create jobs for Canadians
  • can compete on a global scale

Foreign Employer Guarantee Fund

The Foreign Employer Guarantee Fund (FEGF)  helps protect Filipino migrant workers and supports their repatriation. 

For Overseas Filipino Workers recruited through a government-to-government arrangement, the Administration shall, through relevant guidelines, establish and administer a Foreign Employer’s Guarantee Fund (FEGF) which shall be answerable for the Overseas Filipino Workers’ monetary claims arising from breach of contractual obligations. The same must be included in bilateral agreements on government-to-government hiring.

European Qualifications Passport

The European Qualifications Passport being piloted in Greece by various European agencies for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills is another example to emulate. The “passports” confirm the qualifications and skills of migrants based on interviews and credential evaluations so that they can readily enter the labour market.

Refugee Talent

Refugee Talent founders, Nirary Dacho and Anna Robson met at the Sydney Techfugee Hackathon in November 2015. They joined together to solve the problem of refugees struggling to get their first local work experience in their new country. The solution Refugee Talent – is a digital platform to connect skilled refugees with companies offering short and long term job opportunities.

Workeer is the first training and job market platform in Germany, which is aimed specifically at refugees. The purpose of the platform is to create a suitable environment in which this particular group of jobseekers meets employers who have a positive attitude towards them. With the help of employer and applicant profiles, as well as numerous job offers in various industries and locations throughout Germany, we facilitate the first uncomplicated contact and exchange between refugees and employers.

Magnet is a not-for-profit social innovation founded by Ryerson University, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.It is a collaborative hub of post-secondary institutions, not-for-profits, government, labour, and industry partners working together on one common platform, towards one common goal: to address unemployment and under-employment of Canadians.

Skills2Work

IQ Network
