ASEAN+3 University Network

The ASEAN University Network is tasked to promote higher education, increase linkages between universities and encourage credit transfers in ASEAN+3 countries. In realization of this vital mission, the “ASEAN +3 Higher Education Policy Dialogue” was successfully convened in Phuket, Thailand in March 2009 with full support by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Office of Higher Education Commission, Thailand and the AUN Secretariat. 

Determining Labour Shortages and the need for Labour Migration in Germany

The German Federal Employment Agency carries out an analysis of shortages of skilled workers twice a year. This analyis is based unpon several indicators, such as the number of unemployment persons in relation to the number of vacancies, duration of vacancies and profession-specific unemployment rates.

Alliance of Credential Evaluation Service

The Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada was formed so that provincial-level evaluation and assessment services of credentials for skilled immigrants are standardized.

The Alliance is made up of credential assessment services from across Canada. Alliance members provide a variety of clients — such as employers, professional regulatory bodies and educational institutions — with the assistance they require and the quality assurance they demand in assessing the academic credentials of prospective applicants.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program

In March 2017, the federal government in Canada launched a pilot project to address labour shortages in certain industries in Nova Scotia.

With an unemployment rate of 8%, there is paradoxically an acute labour shortage in certain industries in the region, including Nova Scotia fish plants.

The Philippines and Return Migration

In support of evidence-based policy making, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Department has been also undertaking a research project toward identifying the typologies of returning migrants, the main objectives of which is to put OFWs and their divergent aspirations and circumstances back at the heart of the government's reintegration program, with improved program design and planning and budgeting framework.

Migrant Care Village

In collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the CSOs the program "Migrant Care Village" offers various services to migrant workers and their families, such as information on safe migration, papers, and empowerment programs for migrants and their families.

Law of return (Ley de Retorno)

The Peruvian National Migration Policy (PNM) dedicates particular importance to achieving the full reintegration of the returned migrant into the economy and society in a long-term vision. Their logo is "Migrate Safely - Safely Return", to make visible the virtuous circle that migration should be.

Integrated Empowerment Program

The Indonesian National Board for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Overseas Workers has put in place an integrated empowerment program that targets return migrant - those who have finished their employment contract and assisted voluntary returnees. Working with relevant stakeholders (CSOs, private sector, microcredit organizations and training centers), the Board provides entrepreneurship and upgrading skills programme.
