The overall objective of the project is to contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive rural transformations, through the creation of decent employment opportunities in rural areas prone to outmigration, while promoting migration as a climate adaptation strategy.
Over 24 months, the proposed project aims to mainstream the migration, environment and climate change nexus into national adaptation planning. Firstly, IOM Moldova, together with the University of Vienna, will assess how, when and where migration ñ in its different forms ñ contributes to climate change adaptation and climate resilience, with a special focus on slow-onset hazards.

The Diaspora Mapping Toolkit builds on IOMís rich experience of over 150 diaspora mappings implemented across diverse contexts, this Toolkit presents a systematic, comprehensive yet very flexible and agile approach to conducting diaspora mappings in differing contexts. To galvanize diasporaís engagement in COVID-19 response, IOM Washington, DC is implementing a project funded by USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, with the ultimate goal to increase the reach and effectiveness of relief assistance to communities affected by the pandemic.
The ëMigration Governance and Diaspora Engagementí Certificate Programme is interdisciplinary and policy oriented, with resource persons and lecturers drawn from various sectors and thematic domains, regions and countries. They will share their experiences to provide, not only multiple perspectives, but also help the learner to develop a nuanced understanding of the dynamics of international migration and diaspora engagement.
