Providing IDPs of Addis Ababa’s Koyefeche settlement with clean water and entrepreneurship support

Addis Ababa is a recipient of the Global Cities Fund for Migrants and Refugees (GCF), the Mayors Migration Council’s response to the unmet needs of cities as they support migrants, refugees, and internally displaced people.

Simultaneous ceremonies in France of Republican Sponsorship of exiled persons

On 18 December 2021, ANVITA coordinated the organisation of numerous Republican Sponsorship ceremonies throughout France, organised by some twenty local authorities, in collaboration with local associations, thus enabling the sponsorship of more than 300 exiled persons. Republican sponsorship has a symbolic and non-legal value, in other words, it has no direct influence on obtaining a residence permit.

EMBRACIN Project - Reception of young people in exile

This action was submitted through the GFMD Mayors Mechanism Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees.

EMBRACIN is a comprehensive model for the reception of young adult migrants, with whom we have had experiences in Andalusia in the cities of Seville, Jaén and Cádiz. These three experiences of reception, for a total of 16 young nationals from third countries, are each supported by six professionals from different disciplines: medicine, law, social work, language interpretation, teaching and psychology.

The City of Choice

Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) will implement programming that promotes the involvement and employment of migrants, refugees and receiving communities in the environmental and economic sustainability of Nairobi most marginalized areas. NCCG will first conduct a baseline survey to understand the skills and employment needs of migrant, refugee and IDP communities living in informal settlements in Nairobi. Based on this survey, livelihoods and resilience strategies will be developed in concert with target communities.

Expat Protection Centre (EPC)

The Expat Protection Centre is a central hub of services operating (24/7), and provides a range of services to expatriate workers, including protection services, complaints and grievances, labour court submissions, as well as providing guidance and assistance to expatriate workers on labour related matters.
