This handbook responds to the gap between talk and action, acting as a step-by-step guide for policymakers, giving practical meaning to the concept of Migration and Development.
The handbook is primarily concerned with international migration, and with national development processes and instruments in developing countries. The primary target audiences for this handbook are those interested in or responsible for facilitating a strategy for integrating migration into development planning processes of developing countries.
The Guidance Note on Integrating Migration and Displacement in United Nations Development Assistance Frameworks (UNDAFs) of the GMG in collaboration with the UN Development Operations Coordination Office (UN DOCO,) introduces UNCTs and government partners to the various programmatic links between sustainable development, migration and displacement.
The State Commission on Migration Issues was set up on 13 October 2010 on the basis of the Government's Decree No. 314. The Commission is the Government's consultative body to discuss and take decisions on various important issues related to migration management.
The Commission comprising of 12 government entities is chaired by the Minister of Justice and co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of the Interior.
The European Union introduced a new Migration Partnership Framework in June 2016 that fully integrates migration in the European Union’s foreign policy. This is a key element of the European Union Global Strategy.
This policy framework provides a progressive vision for the African continent to maximise the benefits of well-managed international migration, through a strategic, modern, integrated and risk-based approach, while minimising the associated risks. The proposed project seeks to localize, mainstream and actualize migration and development (M&D) issues and projects among key provinces, cities and municipalities in the Bicol Region. Among others, the project will establish migration resource centers in the Bicol region. These resource centers will serve as one-stop hubs for services and projects for overseas Filipinos and their families. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Policy on Cooperation with Diaspora is the state-level framework policy prepared by a multi-sector working group chaired by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
