South Africa

The Joint Country Strategy has identified the overall goals, specific objectives and areas of cooperation between the EU and South Africa from 2007 to 2013. The present Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) translates the Commission's response in the Country Strategy Paper (CSP) into a programme of action for this period. It is in accordance with Article 19 of Regulation No 1905/2006 ofthe European Parliament and of the Council establishing a financing instrument for development cooperation.

Solomon Islands

The purpose of this Country Strategy Paper (CSP) is to provide a framework for EC co-operation with Solomon Islands under the Cotonou Agreement. The framework is based on global objectives of EC-ACP co-operation, Solomon Islands own development policy, an analysis of the political and economic situation in the country, and an assessment of the past co-operation programmes of the EC and other donors. It concludes with the proposed EC response strategy of the 10th EDF and a National Indicative Programme (NIP).

Slovakia

This Extended Migration Profile (2011) has been prepared in the framework of the “Building Migration Partnerships” initiative funded by the European Union’s Thematic Programme, which was implemented between January 2009 and June 2011. The overall objective of this initiative was to contribute to the implementation of the Joint Declaration agreed at the Prague Ministerial Conference "Building Migration Partnerships" (April 2009). This Extended Migration Profile has been elaborated on the basis of a template prepared by the European Commission.

Sierra Leone

Chapter I – EU, DFID and GoSL objectives

This strategy is based on Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) for 2005-2007, the ACP-EU Partnership Agreement, the EU Strategy for Africa (2005), the European Consensus on Development and the 10-year Memorandum of Understanding signed between the DFID and the government of Sierra Leone in 2002.

Chapter II – Analysis and challenges facing Sierra Leone over the next five years

Seychelles

The Republic of Seychelles, situated in the Western Indian Ocean, is a Small Island Developing State of 84,600 inhabitants, with a very high population density exceeding 500 hab/km2 on its main island, Mahé. Seychelles is ranked amongst the middle-income countries, with a GDP per capita estimated at €7 000, largely achieved through development of the country's tourism potential and exploitation of its fisheries resources.

Serbia

The Migration Profiles in South-Eastern Europe were created partly in reaction to the EU Council Conclusions of June 2007 on Extending and Enhancing the Global Approach to Migration, based on the Commission Communications of May 2007 on applying the Global Approach to migration to the Eastern and South-Eastern regions neighbouring the European Union and on circular migration and mobility partnerships, which particularly calls for drawing up country-specific migration profiles.

Serbia

“Migration in Serbia: A Country Profile 2008” is part of a series of migration profiles produced by IOM Budapest within the “Black Sea Consultative Process on Migration Management” project, funded from IOM’s 1035 Facility. While inadequate statistical resources might hinder the analysis of the migration situation in Serbia, existing figures depict Serbia as a country of origin for migration. Estimates point to as many as four million people of Serb origin living today outside of Serbia, many of them young and educated.

Senegal

The MTM Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map) is an online interactive platform in support of the Mediterranean Migration Dialogue.

The country profiles provide factual, non-analytical information and a series of graphs illustrating the main datasets relevant to Migration and Development in the country.

The profiles give access to a plethora of information sources through hyperlinks and they cover the following thematic areas:

Senegal

In Europe and elsewhere, there is a widespread image of Africa as a continent in crisis, whose population seeks en masse to find a route to Europe. The example of Senegal, however, illustrates that African migration is far more complex a phenomenon. To begin with, migration to and from Senegal has, until recently, primarily been in connection with other African states. Historically, Senegal was not a country of origin, but rather the destination of migrants.
