ADFC will be set up as an independent, non-AU continental finance institution, operating as a social enterprise and working together with other African and global finance, development, and diaspora institutions. The first phase of the ADFC implementation involves the initiation of an innovative finance scheme through the RemitAidô Remittance Match Funding mechanism.

Documentation on alternatives to detention

International Detention Coalition (IDC) has documented diverse promising practices on alternatives to detention across Africa, from governments and NGOs, to generate momentum for rights-based practices. In 2017, IDC launched a research titled 'There are Alternatives : Africa' which documents promising practices in over 32 African countries. The report highlights some of the measures in place including laws, policies and practices in Africa that contribute to the effective and humane governance of migration, while avoiding the use of unnecessary immigration detention.

Sin Palabras is a multicultural Artist Collective gathered since 2013, dedicated to give theater and art workshops of introspection and self discovery to vulnerable communities in different countries. They seek results that are tangible evidence of the participants experiences and that they can be shared to create awareness before the ears that do not want to hear. Africa Art Lines Association is a fund that allows artists and cultural operators carrying artistic projects between Morocco and other African countries to benefit from grants for their travel expenses, thus promoting labor mobility and cultural awareness. Africa Art Lines accepts artists and cultural professionals living and working within the continent and holding projects related to Morocco.

IOM campaign "migrants as messengers"

Migrants as Messengers is a peer-to-peer messaging campaign by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) where returning migrants share with their communities and families the dangers, trauma, and abuse that many experienced while attempting irregular migration.  From smartphones to social media platforms and social networks, returning migrants from Senegal, Guinea, and Nigeria share their stories to generate awareness and provide advice and information on misconceptions about living abroad.
