Diaspora 4 Climate Action (D4C)

The UK is home to some of the largest diaspora communities worldwide and to help leverage this untapped potential, IOM UK launches the Diaspora for Climate Action (D4C) project.The project will enable diaspora members to build connections with key stakeholders in Bangladesh, Jamaica, Ghana and Albania that can help them achieve more effective and coordinated climate action, and greater and longer-lasting impacts on climate-vulnerable populations.

Programme Migration & Diaspora (PMD)

The PMD programme is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supports key actors in making more effective use of regular migration and diaspora engagement to achieve their development goals. Guided by the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), the program is implemented by GIZ in up to 25 partner countries and focuses on the following three components:

a) Active Citizenship and harmonious integration of people and ethnic Albanian populations in Switzerland

The purpose of albinfo.ch is to be used as a communication tool through free and convenient access to quality non-partisan information and services.

Albania

The Migration Profiles in South-Eastern Europe were created partly in reaction to the EU Council Conclusions of June 2007 on Extending and Enhancing the Global Approach to Migration, based on the Commission Communications of May 2007 on applying the Global Approach to migration to the Eastern and South-Eastern regions neighbouring the European Union and on circular migration and mobility partnerships, which particularly calls for drawing up country-specific migration profiles.

Albania

“Migration in Albania: A Country Profile 2008” is part of a series of migration profiles produced by IOM Budapest within the “Black Sea Consultative Process on Migration Management” project, funded from IOM’s 1035 Facility. Migration from Albania is one of the most pervasive socio-economic phenomena affecting the country. Since 1990, it is estimated that a quarter of the population has left the country.

Bilateral Labour Agreements

The Greek Government has bilateral labor agreements with Egypt, Bulgaria and Albania, mostly for seasonal workers, anbd believes that by establishing legal channels for migration, the agreements enhance inter-governmental cooperation at economic, social and cultural levels. 

Bilateral Employment Agreements (Albania)

Albania established a good recruitment scheme for the Albanian labour force for employment in Italy and Germany, from the moment of arrival of the manpower requirements of the receiving party, the publication of the requirements, the registration, the selection, interviewing and training according to the required professional standards.

Strategy on Reintegration of Returned Albanian Citizens

The Strategy on Reintegration of Returned Albanian Citizens is part of the national migration policy. It further expands those reintegration measures of the National Strategy on Migration which do not fully address the reintegration issues. The vision embedded in this Strategy is to ensure sustainable return of emigrants through support to the reintegration process, regardless of the form of return.
