The Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) is an initiative of the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Union Development Agency (AUDANEPAD) supported by the German Government and the European Union. SIFA promotes the occupational prospects of young Africans through the support of innovative skills development programmes and close cooperation with the private sector as an integral key stakeholder in the creation of jobs. The initiative consists of two components, a Finance Facility and a Technical Component.

Funded by AFD, the I Yeke Oko ("We are together" project aims to promote peace between populations and territorial cohesion in Cameroon and the Central African Republic, by helping to strengthen local governance, consolidate social ties and boost the rural economy. The I Yéké Oko project is aimed at the balanced and sustainable development of territories affected by the displacement of populations resulting from the Central African conflict in the Central African Republic and Cameroon. 

In collaboration with the African diaspora in Europe, WIDU applies an innovative approach that combines funding and coaching to strengthen new and existing small businesses in Africa, which then leads to the creation of new jobs.

WIDU.africa works in close collaboration with different African diaspora organisations and associations based in Europe. This partnership is vital for the implementation of WIDU.africa and the success of the project as they create a bridge between the WIDU.africa project and its most important actors ñ the diaspora members.

For the first edition of this inclusive approach of Club Dias'invest 237, the International Forum of Diaspora Investments in Cameroon (FIIDIC2023) brings together thirty associations of the Cameroonian diaspora worldwide. This forum aims to be a platform for meeting Cameroonian vital forces of the Diaspora and investors in favor of the economic influence of Cameroon.

The PMD programme is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supports key actors in making more effective use of regular migration and diaspora engagement to achieve their development goals. Guided by the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), the program is implemented by GIZ in up to 25 partner countries and focuses on the following three components:

The Inter-ministerial Ad hoc Committee to manage emergency situations concerning refugees in Cameroon was created by President Paul Biya on March 2014 as a response to the massive influx of refugees and displaced people escaping from the sectarian fighting in the Central African Republic as well as those escaping from the armed fighting between Boko Haram and army of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Statistics on the refugee situation in the country put the total number at above 110,000.

The program establishes a number of feeding centers and therapeutic nutrition centers to address malnutrition and improve the nutrition needs of refugees and displaced populations in the Eastern and Far-East of the country.

Providing land and space for accommodation of refugees from CAR and Nigeria, satisfy their basis needs and protecting their rights (education, health, security) in the East and far North regions of the country.

The public and private centres are in charge of receiving, providing accommodation and security to children, as well as placing them in families throughout the country

Remittances from migrants are a major source of financing for the economies of developing countries and of the recipient populations. They are of great benefit to large segments of the population which, without these resources, would live in conditions of abject poverty. Consequently, remittance flows tend to remain stable even when the migrants’ countries of residence are beset by economic and financial crisis. They seem to be less volatile than official development assistance and foreign direct investment.
