The Government of Mexico has created the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior) to provide support to emigrants and promote leadership abroad; it helps improve the integration of Mexican communities in destination countries and maintains systematic and direct communication between Mexico and its Diaspora.

International Diaspora Engagement Alliance

In 2011 the United States of America launched IdEA - the International Diaspora Engagement Alliance - a non-profit organization managed via a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Calvert Foundation. IdEA provides a platform to foster engagement between the U.S.

MEDMA 2

MEDMA2 (Mobilisation des Marocains Résidant à l'Étranger pour le Maroc) is a pilot project aimed at mobilising the Moroccan Diaspora legally settled in Belgium to contribute to the development of their country of origin. Financed by the Belgian Cooperation agency, the project has been implemented since May 2012 by the International Organization for Migration, through its offices in Rabat and Brussels.

This project is implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry in charge of Moroccans living abroad (MCCMRE) and the Foundation Hassan II (FHII).

Migration and Development in Africa Great Lakes (MIDA - Great Lakes)

MIDA seeks to respond to the ‘brain drain’ phenomenon in African countries through the creation and strengthening of sustainable links between diasporas and countries of origin. The objective is to encourage the transfer of competencies and resources of the African Diaspora benefiting countries of origin and strengthening the capacities of local public and private institutions.

Nepal Bilateral Agreements in the area of Labour Migration

The Government of Nepal has signed bilateral labour agreements with five major destination countries, namely the Kingdom of Bahrain (April 29, 2008), the State of Qatar (April 21, 2005), the United Arab Emirates (July 3, 2007), the Republic of Korea (July 23, 2007) and Japan (2009). The Government is also taking into consideration signing labour agreements with Oman, Lebanon and Malaysia.

Youth Exchange Program (Lithuania and Canada)

The purpose of the Agreement is to create the opportunities for youth to deepen their professional and language skills, study and work during holidays in another contracting state, and get to know its people and culture.

The Youth Exchange Programme is open to:

(1) citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and Canada, including graduates from a university, higher education institution or research institution, who wish to obtain further training in the host country under a pre-arranged contract of employment in support of their career development;

Diaspora Support Unit

The Diaspora Support Unit within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana hosts and maintains a diaspora website which serves as a platform for facilitating the engagement of the country’s emigrants in sustainable development by the Government of Ghana.
