Philippines- Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS) MOU on Nurses and Caregivers

The PHL and JICWELS have forged a unique hiring program which allows the Filipino candidate nurses/caregivers to take Japanese licensure exam and to practice their profession in Japan. It requires the candidates to undergo language training and cultural course in preparation for the exam. Before obtaining their qualifying as full-pledged nurses in Japan, the candidate is covered by a fully transparent employment contract with salaries equivalent to what Japanese nurses/caregivers receive.

This publication presents the current situation with regard to the magnitude and economic impact of migrants’ remittances to their countries of origin.

The book surveys:

  • the channels used to collect these funds;
  • the role of banking systems and other financial institutions;
  • the introduction of new technologies and their impact on fund collection;
  • how the funds are transferred; and
  • how to reduce the costs.

This website offers both comparison of remittance costs on 26 corridors from France, and editorial space for diaspora to communicate on their activities and exchange ideas on the blog.

It has contributed to fostering competition between remittance operators through increased transparency and information. It is also widely used by diaspora members as a platform to share information. 

Pre-Departure Handbooks

For pre- departure orientation, the Bangladesh government has, with an international partner, introduced destination-specific, pocket-size handbooks containing key information about the law, culture, language, emergency contacts, remittance transfer method etc. of the destination country.
