EUROMED Migration V (EMM5)

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

In the framework of the EUROMED Migration V project, trainings to sensitise journalists and media professionals about the benefits of promoting a balanced narrative on migration are organised. Public Communicators' Workshops are developed to highlight the central role of public communicators in informing the public debate on migration, and in shaping people's perceptions of migration.

The Migration Profile Light has been developed in 2013 based on the feedback received from the Prague Process participating states aiming to strengthen the Prague Process Knowledge base with the useful tool consisting of state-owned migration profiles with standard and comparable data categories. In comparison to the Extended Migration Profile, which from its name indicates that the information should be of thorough and detailed nature, the Migration Profile Light is a handy tool with a limited number of pages clearly indicating the areas of interest.

Face2face: facilitating dialogue between migrants and European citizens (F2F)

Submitted by Ms. Laurence BRON on

The project aims to break down negative stereotypes and improve public perception of migrants and the phenomenon of migration in the Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Italy and Spain by creating strong and long-lasting basis for interaction and dialogue between migrants and members of receiving communities. Since a large part of the project will take place in 2013, the European Year of Citizenship, the project seeks to bring attention to the wider definition of citizen, meaning a person who is linked to a country by rights, but also by responsibility to the society.

EU Immigration Portal

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

The EU Immigration Portal serves as a first point of entry to reliable, practical and up-to-date information on immigration issues. It provides useful basic information written in user-friendly language and gives rapid and direct access to relevant external websites for further information. In concrete terms, the portal helps potential migrants to:

- Better understand the EU admission rules and procedures;

- Identify job and study opportunities;

- Find information on the rights of non-EU citizens who are in the EU;

This Extended Migration Profile (2011) has been prepared in the framework of the “Building Migration Partnerships” initiative funded by the European Union’s Thematic Programme, which was implemented between January 2009 and June 2011. The overall objective of this initiative was to contribute to the implementation of the Joint Declaration agreed at the Prague Ministerial Conference "Building Migration Partnerships" (April 2009). This Extended Migration Profile has been elaborated on the basis of a template prepared by the European Commission.

The European Job Mobility Portal (EURES)

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

Launched in 1994, EURES is a European cooperation network of employment services, designed to facilitate the free movement of workers. The network has always worked hard to ensure that European citizens can benefit from the same opportunities, despite language barriers, cultural differences, bureaucratic challenges, diverse employment laws and a lack of recognition of educational certificates across Europe.

This web portal provides information on access to job opportunities in 32 European countries. It also promotes the cooperation amongst national employment agencies.
