Council of Brazilians Abroad

The Council of Brazilians Abroad (Conselhos dos Brasileiros no Mundo) establilshes the principles and directives of the Brazilian Government policy towards its communities residing abroad. It created the Brazilians around the World Conferences - CBM, the Council of Representatives of Brazilians abroad - CRBE and, under the coordination of the MInistry of External Relations, acts on behalf of the Brazilian communities abroad.

Mobilization of Moroccans living abroad to participate in the development of Morocco

It is a process that has different phases. The first one is the identification of skilled migrants in host countries. Once they are identified, networks of migrants are established. Within these networks, migrants are encouraged to create thematic groups. Once this network is constituted, a big national seminar in Morocco is created to which Ministries, National Institutions, Center of Research and Universities are invited. So far, there are networks in Germany, the United States, Canada and Denmark.

Transfer of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals (TOKTEN MALI)

The "Transfer of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals" program, commonly known as TOKTEN, is a program directed to the phenomenon and the expression of interest shown by qualified expatriates in participate in the development of their country of origin, via the transfer of expertise and skills.

In Mali, the TOKTEN falls under the temporary return of scientific and technical diaspora and, on an initial phase that lasted between 1998 - 2008, targeted the field of higher education.

Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals

The Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals (TRQN) programme enables the Diaspora of the targeted countries to contribute to the reconstruction and development of countries of origin. The objective of the programme is to contribute to the reduction of poverty and to stimulate economic development by strengthening the institutional capacities of both public and private organisations.

General Directorate for Diaspora

The Ethiopian Directorate General for Diaspora Engagement Affairs is responsible for:

  • Implementating and following the Ethiopian Diaspora Policy;
  • Serving as a liaison between Federal, Regional Diaspora offices and Ethiopian Diaspora;
  •  Handling requests of Ethiopian Diaspora, and for;
  • Disseminating information to Diaspora through Ethiopia Diaspora website and different media outlets.

e-Diasporas Project

The e-Diaspora project has catalogued over 8000 websites relating to some 30 diasporas throughout the world. It clearly shows the abundant resources and vitality of this new universe, in which today’s migrants are full participants.

Diaspora Forum (Niger)

The 1st Diaspora Forum of Niger was jointly organized in 2012 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IOM for the people of Niger living abroad. In discussions with the government, civil society, development partners and financial institutions, Diaspora actors looked at their role and contributions to the country's economic and social development.
