Diaspora Empowerment and Engagement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IME), in alliance with the Embassy of Mexico in Germany and the Germany and Bavaria Chapter of the Global MX Network, call for migrant writers of Mexican origin to participate in the 2nd Literature Contest for the Mexican Diaspora 2023 with the theme "Mexican Traditions". It aims at promoting literary creation by involving the Mexican community abroad, using social networks, emails and digital materials

SEFIME is a government initiative that seeks to bring financial programs and services to the Mexican diaspora through the Mexican Consular Network in the USA, Canada, Latin America and Europe.
SEFIME offers workshops, training, talks, counseling, among others, on topics related to financial education and inclusion aimed at the Mexican community living abroad, in order to strengthen the tools they have related to the planning and management of their resources.

The International Organization for Migration is pleased to announce the publication of a note for the project, ìConsolidating and Operationalizing a Framework for Diaspora's Engagement in Humanitarian Assistance - Phase II.î The collaborative document is the result of three years of multi-stakeholder coordination and inputs from dozens of diaspora organizations and other institutional humanitarian actors.

The Diaspora Mapping Toolkit builds on IOMís rich experience of over 150 diaspora mappings implemented across diverse contexts, this Toolkit presents a systematic, comprehensive yet very flexible and agile approach to conducting diaspora mappings in differing contexts. By following the proposed clear guidance on how to collect and analyse data on diaspora communities, decision makers will have the possibility to create more strategic and evidence-based policies empowering diaspora members to contribute and engage thus maximizing their contributions to development.

To galvanize diasporaís engagement in COVID-19 response, IOM Washington, DC is implementing a project funded by USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, with the ultimate goal to increase the reach and effectiveness of relief assistance to communities affected by the pandemic.

Contributions and Counting: Guidance on Measuring the Economic Impact of your Diaspora beyond Remittances provides guidance for governments and national authorities looking to understand and measure the economic contributions made by their diaspora to their country of origin ñ that is, contributions beyond financial remittances.
