National Migration Strategy 2016-2020 (Georgia)

Submitted by Ms. Charlotte … on

The Migration Strategy 2016-2020 is the third strategic document for Georgia defining migration policy. The strategy reflects an increasing drive, in cooperation with the EU member and other states, to increase the basis for legal migration, and prevent illegal migration, and transnational and trans-boundary organised crime. A special emphasis is given to the development of mechanisms facilitating return and reintegration of Georgian citizens, protection of the rights and integration of persons with refugee or humanitarian status, and asylum seekers in Georgia.

Help Refugees (“Refugenes” campaign)

Submitted by Mr. Camille Saadé on

This campaign shared stories in video format of British public figures talking about their refugee heritage (or, “refugenes”) with pride. The purpose of the campaign was to show how past refugees have become part of the fabric of British society in the present day. In addition to circulating videos of public figures, the campaign included a call to action inviting members of the general public to share stories from their own family trees about finding safety in the UK as a refugee.

Submitted by Mr. Camille Saadé on

Volume II of the Agenda for the Protection of Cross-Border Displaced Persons in the Context of Disasters and Climate Change provides for examples of humanitarian protection mechanisms for the admission and stay of cross-border disaster-displaced persons.

It compiles a broad set of humanitarian protection measures, which may be based on regular immigration law, regional or bilateral agreements on the free movement of persons, exceptional immigration categories, or provisions related to the protection of refugees or similar norms of international human rights law.
