"Make it in Germany" - Web Portal

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

In Germany the web portal “Make it in Germany” is the first check for foreign workers, and German advisers are also posted abroad (India, Indonesia and Vietnam) to provide information and advice to those wishing to go to Germany. Responsibility for this could also be shared between countries of origin and destination, and be included in labour agreements.

Germany

Germany was mainly a country of emigration in the 19th and first half of the 20th century. Since the mid-1950s, however, Germany has become one of the most important European destinations for migrants. The recruitment of guest workers, the influx of (Spät-)Aussiedler (ethnic Germans from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet states), as well as the reception of asylum-seekers have led to the growth of the immigrant population in the country.

Returning Experts Programme

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

The Returning Experts Programme supports the professional integration of university graduates and experienced experts from developing, emerging and transition countries, who have completed their training in Germany and are interested in returning to their countries of origin. The focus is on placing professionals in areas of particular relevance to development policy. In addition to placement and advisory services, the programme offers financial support to experts interested in returning to their own countries.

Sri Lankan-German Training Institute

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

The Project “Vocational Training in the North of Sri Lanka” (VTN) is a bilateral cooperation between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The objective is to establish a new vocational training institute in Kilinochchi - the Sri Lankan German Training Institute (SLGTI) - together with various partner institutions working in the region. The SLGTI will offer training programs to young people which will enable them to acquire qualifications for employment or self-employment according to the needs on the market.

Development Marketplace for the African Diaspora in Europe (D-MADE)

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

The Development Marketplace for the African Diaspora in Europe (D-MADE) is a competitive grant program aimed at funding innovative, small scale development projects which are profit-making, results-oriented and have the potential to be scaled up or replicated.

The program has two components:

The European Job Mobility Portal (EURES)

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

Launched in 1994, EURES is a European cooperation network of employment services, designed to facilitate the free movement of workers. The network has always worked hard to ensure that European citizens can benefit from the same opportunities, despite language barriers, cultural differences, bureaucratic challenges, diverse employment laws and a lack of recognition of educational certificates across Europe.

This web portal provides information on access to job opportunities in 32 European countries. It also promotes the cooperation amongst national employment agencies.

Bilateral Employment Agreements (Albania)

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

Albania established a good recruitment scheme for the Albanian labour force for employment in Italy and Germany, from the moment of arrival of the manpower requirements of the receiving party, the publication of the requirements, the registration, the selection, interviewing and training according to the required professional standards.
