Law on Foreigners and International Protection

The new Law on Foreigners and International Protection established a new Migration Advisory Board with a mandate of assessing the effects of regional and international migration policy developments on Turkey. The Board will thus be regularly monitoring the development impacts of migration at the national and sectorial levels as part of its duties under the law. 

MoU between The Philippines and USA on Reducing Remittance Costs

The Philippines' Department of Finance has entered into bilateral negotiations with the US Treasury Department with the intent of reducing remittance costs. The means by which cost reduction is to be achieved is through the granting of rights to local banks to form agreements with their counterparts in the US, thereby enhancing access to the formal transfer systems and at the same time ensuring compliance with regulations concerning financial flows. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for the purpose. 

FedACH Services Mexico

The central banks of Mexico and the US have signed an agreement that allows banks to to transmit electronic fund transfers from the USA to Mexico through the Federal Reserve Banks’ Automated Clearing House (FED - ACH).

The FedGlobal Mexico Service offers US financial institutions the added benefit and convenience of promotional materials and tools to aid in promoting the service to their customers and pre-opening accounts at participating institutions in Mexico.

United States-Mexico Border Health Commission

The mission of the United States-México Border Health Commission is to provide international leadership to optimize health and quality of life along the US-México border.

They have designed joint cross-border strategies to preserve, improve and care for the health of the Mexican migrant population. These include information, referrals, engagement of local migrant networks and access to services, as well as training and guidelines to service providers.

Scholarships from the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME - Becas Program)

The IME-Becas program aims to elevate the educational level of the Mexican population or the Mexican Diaspora residing in the USA, by assigning resources to non-profit organizations. This program falls under the Mexico-United States Cooperation Initiative on Education that has established programs in the US to facilitate access to education for Mexican migrants and increase their potential to adapt locally.

The Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS)

Thailand aims at addressing the socio-economic disparities that are seen to be one of the main causes of migration in the sub-region. For this reason its capacity building efforts in the sub-region involve a range of economic development projects along border areas with neighboring countries, notably (but not limited to) under the ACMECS framework.
