Law on Foreigners and International Protection

The new Law on Foreigners and International Protection established a new Migration Advisory Board with a mandate of assessing the effects of regional and international migration policy developments on Turkey. The Board will thus be regularly monitoring the development impacts of migration at the national and sectorial levels as part of its duties under the law. 

Returning Nationals Secretariat

The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has a Returning Nationals Secretariat, which offers assistance and services to returnees such as help finding jobs, locating housing and getting access to other social services. They also offer guidance and essential information, assistance navigating the relocation bureaucracy and counselling where necessary. 

Nationals who have lived abroad for at least ten years qualify for certain tax exemptions upon returning.

The Foresight Global Environmental Migration

The Foresight Global Environmental Migration project will explore the global patterns and impacts of migration over the next 50 years arising from environmental change, the opportunities and challenges which could result from changing migration patterns, and a suite of interventions appropriate in each circumstance. The interaction between migration, environmental change and development is a core component of this research.

Health Card Scheme

All migrants who register with local municipal authorities are entitled to health care assistance on the same terms as Spanish citizens under Spanish national legislation, including the Organic Law on the Rights and Freedoms of Aliens in Spain and their Social Integration. 

However, a number of immigrants are not registered because they are unaware of the process, they fear enforcement authorities' access to the database, or their municipal government rejects their registration.

Initiative Against Hunger and Poverty (IHP)

The Spanish initiative seeks to enhance Remittances as an effective source of finance for development, by no means trying to substitute current flows of development aid. The Spanish initiative considers the involvement of the Public Administration, the financial sector, university circles and civil society.

By choosing to focus on Remittances Spain tries to make most of its experience as a Remittances receiving country during the 60s and 70s to help developing countries.

Strategic Plan for Citizenship and Integration

Spain’s Strategic Plan for Citizenship and Integration (2011-2014) main objective is to strengthen social cohesion in a new migratory context characterised by reduced flows of entering for immigrants. The intended purpose of the agreement is to strengthen both the instruments and integration policies such as public services and participation to ensure equal access of all citizens.

International money transfers from Switzerland: An information brochure for migrants

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO published this brochure, as a contribute to greater transparency among the various operators and services on the Swiss market. In addition, in promoting private sector development in transition and developing countries, it is helping to create attractive savings and investment opportunities on site. This encourages recipients to use the money not only for spending but also, and increasingly, for productive investments, thereby contributing to growth and job creation in their own country.

MiDA Senegal

The overall objective of MIDA (Migration for Development in Africa) is to assist African governments to achieve their development goals through the creation and strengthening of sustainable links between migrants and their countries of origin.

MIDA focuses on the circulation of competencies, expertise and experience of the Diasporas, without jeopardizing their legal status in their host countries or newly adopted home countries.
