The overarching goal of the Making Migration Safe for Women programme, implemented by UN Women, is to ensure that migration is safe for women migrating from, into and through Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali and Niger and international norms and standards for protecting and promoting migrant women’s rights are strengthened. 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union Commission (AUC have signed an agreement for $3.9 million in grant financing to strengthen investment, human capital and philanthropic engagement from the diaspora in eight African countries.  

The Union des Ambassadeurs is a network of Euro-Malian entrepreneurs and professionals who have decided to settle and live in Mali, and who have joined forces to make this new adventure as easy as possible.

The UK Safety, Support and Solutions programme aims to protect migrants from harm. Migrant journeys, particularly via the Central Mediterranean Route, are extremely perilous, with migrants facing risks of violence, exploitation and abuse. This programme provides critical humanitarian and protection support to migrants at key junctures along the route. Assistance is offered to migrants in transit and upon return, with a particular focus on victims of trafficking, unaccompanied children, and migrants in very vulnerable situations.

GIZ supports the National Programme for Sustainable small-scale Irrigation in Mali through job creation in two value chains with high employment potential, fishery and horticulture, in the region of Kayes, particularly affected by emigration. 

Through the crowdfunding platform 'Babyloan Mali', established by IFAD, Malians living in Europe can invest in microentreprises or agro-business opportunities in the rural areas of Mali. Babyloan identifies good business plans for the development of microentreprises, and matches them with diaspora members and organizations in France keen to invest in their home country, through the intermediation of Malian microfinance institutions.

The West Africa Network for the protection of children focuses on ensuring a continuum of services are delivered across the region within and eight-step procedure, ranging from the identification of a vulnerable child and provision of emergency care to their successful social re-integreation.

The Ministry of Malians Abroad has asked the EU ACP Action for Migration, implemented by the International Organization for Migration - IOM, to review the mechanisms that have been put in place since 2011 regarding remmittance and migration.
