Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC) was established in 2007 with the objective of supporting the Indian Diaspora connect better with India and assisting them in deepening their economic and intellectual engagement with India. Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India, set up OIFC, a Public Private Partnership, in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India’s apex industry chamber.

The Economic Initiatives and Migration Programme (Programme Migrations et Initiatives Economiques)

The Economic Initiatives and Migration Programme, or Programme Migrations et Initiatives Economiques (PMIE) in French, aims to facilitate the implementation of economic projects by migrants both in their country of origin and in France.

Migration and Development (France - Mali)

This practice facilitates the investments of individual Malians or Malian Diaspora associations in France in local community development projects or enterprise creation in Mali. Participation in this programme by Malian migrants in France is not conditional on permanent return.

This programme addresses all aspects of migration, including annual consultations between France and Mali and twinning arrangements between villages.

Development Marketplace for the African Diaspora in Europe (D-MADE)

The Development Marketplace for the African Diaspora in Europe (D-MADE) is a competitive grant program aimed at funding innovative, small scale development projects which are profit-making, results-oriented and have the potential to be scaled up or replicated.

The program has two components:

IntEnt Foundation - Enterprising Across Borders

Originated from the Netherlands, IntEnt was set up to facilitate the creation of new business by entrepreneurial and enterprising migrants. IntEnt distinguishes itself from regular SME promotion programmes with its special focus on bridging two worlds. Its services are primarily offered to migrants who wish to set up a business in their countries of origin.

The government of Belgium has established a web portal dedicated to linking African diaspora entrepreneurs residing in Europe to sources of funding in selected countries of origin.

Probasi Kaylan Bank

The Expatriates Welfare Bank Act of 2010 established the Probasi Kaylan Bank in Bangladesh, a specialised bank that provides collateral-free easy loans to aspirant migrant workers, as well as expatriates and returnees for investments and self-employment.

Private Sector Participation in Labour Migration Management in Nepal

IOM, jointly with the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE), implemented a project which aimed to contribute to the GoN’s initiatives to generate employment opportunities for returnee migrants and remittance receiving households (RRHHs), through the engagement of the private sector in Nepal. The project funded by IOM Development Fund was a joint initiative of the MoLE and IOM following discussions with government, returnee migrant organizations and the private sector.
