Comprehensive Health Care Strategy for Migrants (Salud del Migrante 2007 - 2012)

The Migrants Health Program 2007 – 2012 it is a public policy in line with the guidelines and strategies defined by the National Development Plan for the 2007 – 2012 period.

It defines objectives, strategies action plans and goals aiming at supporting the objectives defined in the Sectorial Health Program 2007 – 2012 (PROSESA).

The International Forum of Moroccan Competencies Abroad (FINCOME - Forum International des Compétences Marocaines Résidant à l’Étranger)

The International Forum of Moroccan Competencies Abroad (Forum International des Compétences Marocaines Résidant à l’Étranger) was set up in 2007 to mobilize the skills and investments of Moroccans abroad to support development projects under the national economic and social plan. Based on a public-private partnership around business, science and research interests, it involves the diaspora in its planning. Their expertise offers a more cost effective alternative to expensive foreign experts working on development schemes in Morocco.

Pre-Arrival Japanese-Language Training (Japan, Indonesia and The Philippines)

Under the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with Indonesia and the Philippines, Japan started to accept Indonesian candidates in the field of nursing and nursing care on an annual basis in fiscal 2008 and Filipino counterparts in fiscal 2009.

The agreements required such overseas candidates to undergo six-month Japanese-language training (except for those candidates already possessing a certain level of proficiency in the language).

 

Guide for Migrant Women

The General Secretariat for Gender Equality (Ministry of Interior) has issued a guide for migrant women concerning their rights in the areas of work, health and social security. This also helps to sensitize officials and others to the need for equal treatment.

Global Health Workforce Alliance

The UK aims to support robust health systems with human resource planning to mobilize funds for training, maintenance, retention and a better distribution of the health workforce to serve those in the greatest needs in low-income countries. For example, programs that include women for health in Northern Nigeria, which is training 7000 girls and women to become health workers and supporting the government of Pakistan in training 100.000 lady health workers, bringing health services to remote rural and poor communities to around 80 million people.

Health Care Reception Centres

The Directorate General is responsible for establishing reception centers to meet the health care needs of applicants of asylum and international protection holders as well as other needs and for irregular migrants. In these centers, foreigners shall be provided with emergency and primary health care services free of charge if necessary. 

Mexican Health Portals

The idea of Health Portals is to make it easier for people to get health services, and also to create an awareness about public health. They also do vaccination campaigns. These health portals are done together with private health and public health agencies in the US.

UK National Health Service

The National Health Service provides entitlement to free hospital care and health care, based on being ordinarily resident, that is living in the UK lawfully for more than six months. It is not based on nationality or having a British passport, and actually not ordinarily resident people can access health services in the UK, but subject to charges for visitors. And there are exemptions to these charges for many groups of people, including asylum seekers, the spouse partner, children of anyone that is ordinarily resident or anyone exempt.
