The EU Immigration Portal serves as a first point of entry to reliable, practical and up-to-date information on immigration issues. It provides useful basic information written in user-friendly language and gives rapid and direct access to relevant external websites for further information. In concrete terms, the portal helps potential migrants to:

- Better understand the EU admission rules and procedures;

- Identify job and study opportunities;

- Find information on the rights of non-EU citizens who are in the EU;

Pre-departure Orientation and Links with the National Qualifications Framework in Sri Lanka

Since 2011, the Government of Sri Lanka has been looking to shift its migrant worker population from a mainly low skilled work force to more of a skilled work force to  ensure better conditions of employment and higher wages overseas, and recognition and employability upon return to Sri Lanka.

Global Migration Approach and Mobility Partnerships, France

The French Government has created a program that is specifically responsible for all migration issues. Its creation responds to a triple challenge:

  • - to manage migration by organizing channels for regular migration and to fight against irregular migration;
  • - to promote labour migrants mobility, and;
  • - to promote development in the countries of origin.

Vision 2030 Jamaica - National Development Plan

Under the vision “Jamaica – the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business”, the plan is designed “to ensure that international migration is adequately measured, monitored and influenced to serve the development needs of Jamaica”.

 

Consolidation of Migration Management Capacities in the Republic of Moldova

The Swedish Public Employment Service leads a 3-year project 2012-2014 aiming to strengthening the capacity of Moldovan authorities to manage return migration and supporting social and economic reintegration of returning Moldovan citizens, informing the Moldovan population on the possibilities of working and living legally in the EU and enhancing the capacity of Moldovan Diaspora Associations to better maximize the links between migration and labour market development in destination countries and in Moldova.

Strengthening the Development Potential of the EU Mobility Partnership in Georgia through Targeted Circular Migration and Diaspora Mobilization

The UAE’s National Qualifications Authority, still faces the challenge of appropriate assessment tools to verify migrants’ qualifications, because of the proliferation of individual certification systems in the many countries of origin of its foreign contract workers.
