• The Business Immigrant Mentorship Program is a Government of New Brunswick initiative, delivered in partnership with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.

• The Business Immigrant Mentorship Program allows immigrant investors in the Fredericton region to learn about ‘Doing Business in New Brunswick”. The program offers an in-depth opportunity for new immigrant investors to meet, learn from and network with business professionals from the Fredericton business community.

Immigrant Small Business Loan Program

• Credit Unions in Nova Scotia are offering a small business loan program that aims to help immigrants who are interested in starting, expanding or buying a small business.

• Under this program, an immigrant entrepreneur can borrow a maximum amount of up to $500,000 for loans that are of a traditional debt nature, for working capital or lines of credit.

Futurpreneur Canada – Newcomer Program

 Futurpreneur Canada is a national, non-profit organization that provides financing, mentoring and support tools to aspiring young business owners (aged 18-39).

 Its Newcomer Program provides tailored support to newcomers, including specific eligibility criteria for loan financing for young entrepreneurs (between the ages of 19-34) who have been in Canada for less than five years and who have limited or no established credit history in Canada.

ACP-EU Migration Action

In this declaration, the parties committed to strengthen and deepen cooperation in the area of migration, in particular based on three pillars:

In order to assist DOL in the protection of migrant workers employed in the United States and to help communicate with workers whom it might not otherwise be able to reach, DOL has established formal partnerships with the embassies of Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and the Philippines. DOL’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs which coordinates the program is working to expand these partnerships to embassies and consulates of other countries.

Education for Migrants

Thailand developed the National Education For All Plan of Action (EFA) for the period 2002-2015 to ensure that all persons shall enjoy their right to receive at least twelve years of a free, quality education provided by the government. One objective of the plan is that the provision of EFA is specifically aimed at disadvantaged groups including children without citizenship and those of an ethnic minority.
