Switzerland

The MTM Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map) is an online interactive platform in support of the Mediterranean Migration Dialogue.

The country profiles provide factual, non-analytical information and a series of graphs illustrating the main datasets relevant to Migration and Development in the country.

The profiles give access to a plethora of information sources through hyperlinks and they cover the following thematic areas:

International money transfers from Switzerland: An information brochure for migrants

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO published this brochure, as a contribute to greater transparency among the various operators and services on the Swiss market. In addition, in promoting private sector development in transition and developing countries, it is helping to create attractive savings and investment opportunities on site. This encourages recipients to use the money not only for spending but also, and increasingly, for productive investments, thereby contributing to growth and job creation in their own country.

Global Program Migration and Development

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

The Section Global Programme Migration and Development is a thematically oriented unit that makes use of its operational activities to make a contribution to finding a solution to the global challenges linked to labour migration, internally displaced persons, refugees, and victims of trafficking in human beings. It supports programmes on these themes both financially and by providing know-how, while contributing its experiences within the scope of multilateral dialogue on migration.

The European Job Mobility Portal (EURES)

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

Launched in 1994, EURES is a European cooperation network of employment services, designed to facilitate the free movement of workers. The network has always worked hard to ensure that European citizens can benefit from the same opportunities, despite language barriers, cultural differences, bureaucratic challenges, diverse employment laws and a lack of recognition of educational certificates across Europe.

This web portal provides information on access to job opportunities in 32 European countries. It also promotes the cooperation amongst national employment agencies.

Migration and Development Policies and Practices: A mapping study of eleven European countries and the European Commission

Submitted by Mr. Dário Muhamudo on

This study has three objectives:

1) analyze migration and development in Europe;

2) provide input for continued policy discussions on migration and development beyond Europe, and;

3) assist states in identifying possible future directions, as well as common ground for addressing migration as an inherent part of development.
