The Romanian Ministry of Labour, Family and Equal Opportunities, through its National Agency for Employment has held several Job Fair events in Spain and Italy. These initiatives seem to be easier to set up and work better when they are organized at the bilateral rather than at the multilateral level.

Labour Migration Policy (Nigeria) II

The National Policy on Labour Migration addresses the following three broad objectives:

  • Promotion of good governance of labour migration;
  • Protection of migrant workers and promotion of their welfare and that of families left behind;
  • Optimization of the benefits of labour migration on development while mitigating its adverse impact

Co-Development Project between Costa Rica and Nicaragua

This bi-national project aims at improving the impact and contribution of labour migration movements to the development process of both countries and improving social conditions in areas with large migrant populations and migrant-sending locations. The project seeks to regulate labour flows of Nicaraguan workers to Costa Rica, promote the integration of migrants in the labour market, improve the psychosocial state of migrants and their families as well as enhance their social integration.

Transfer of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals (TOKTEN MALI)

The "Transfer of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals" program, commonly known as TOKTEN, is a program directed to the phenomenon and the expression of interest shown by qualified expatriates in participate in the development of their country of origin, via the transfer of expertise and skills.

In Mali, the TOKTEN falls under the temporary return of scientific and technical diaspora and, on an initial phase that lasted between 1998 - 2008, targeted the field of higher education.

Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals

The Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals (TRQN) programme enables the Diaspora of the targeted countries to contribute to the reconstruction and development of countries of origin. The objective of the programme is to contribute to the reduction of poverty and to stimulate economic development by strengthening the institutional capacities of both public and private organisations.

The European Job Mobility Portal (EURES)

Launched in 1994, EURES is a European cooperation network of employment services, designed to facilitate the free movement of workers. The network has always worked hard to ensure that European citizens can benefit from the same opportunities, despite language barriers, cultural differences, bureaucratic challenges, diverse employment laws and a lack of recognition of educational certificates across Europe.



This web portal provides information on access to job opportunities in 32 European countries. It also promotes the cooperation amongst national employment agencies.

Live-In Caregiver Program (LCP)

The Program permits Canadian families to hire workers from abroad to provide care to a child, an elderly person or an adult with disabilities. Caregivers are obliged to work for two years and afterwards they and their immediate families abroad become eligible to apply for permanent residence. The LCP is the only federal program providing direct access to permanent residence for TFWs with lower skill levels.

Algerian-Belgian Medical Association

The Algerian-Belgian Medical Association is made up of doctors who organize trips and training days in Algeria. They carry out surgeries free of charge. These actions involve both Belgian and Algerian doctors. Currently there are people that have been trained in Algeria and are now working in Belgium.
