Submitted by Ms. Laurence BRON on

As is known, there has been a huge Syrian flow to Turkey since April, 2011; due to the internal conflict in Syria. By the end of 2014 there are approximately 1 million 700 thousand Syrians living in or out of camps/shelters in our country. As the civil war extended and suitable conditions does not exist to return to Syria; it is crucial to provide them legal entrance into labour market to earn livelihood in order to keep the social peace remain.

Within this scope, two types of work permit applications can be made:

General Directorate for Migration Management (GDMM)

Submitted by Ms. Laurence BRON on

A substantial change introduced by the new law on Foreigners and International Protection (Law No. 6458) in 2013 is the centralization of migration policy development within a newly created General Directorate for Migration Management (GDMM). The Directorate will serve as a coordinating force for implementation of the new law, taking over from and adding duties to those of the General Directorate of Security. The GDMM’s responsibilities are wide ranging.

Law on Foreigners and International Protection

The Board will thus be regularly monitoring the development impacts of migration at the national and sectorial levels as part of its duties under the law.

Turkey

The Migration Profiles in South-Eastern Europe were created partly in reaction to the EU Council Conclusions of June 2007 on Extending and Enhancing the Global Approach to Migration, based on the Commission Communications of May 2007 on applying the Global Approach to migration to the Eastern and South-Eastern regions neighbouring the European Union and on circular migration and mobility partnerships, which particularly calls for drawing up country-specific migration profiles.
