Colombia's Temporary Protection Status (Estatuto Temporal de Protección para Migrantes Venezolanos, or ETPV),

In February 2021, the Colombian government launched the Temporary Protection Status (Estatuto Temporal de Protección para Migrantes Venezolanos, or ETPV), a legal mechanism which facilitates the transition of migrants from an emergency migratory regime to a regularization status, granting access to formal employment, education, healthcare, and financial services for almost two million Venezuelan migrants and refugees.

Voices of Venezuela: aims at building a bridge of understanding between cultures, combatting xenophobia, and showcasing the contribution of Venezuelan migrants to their host communities. It developed a series called Some Venezuelans There, which provides explanatory videos in animated format to help migrants understand relevant processes such as visas/residence permits application, and access to medical care and education.

Permanent Migratory Status

The objective of the Permanent Migratory Statutes with Peru, Colombia and Venezuela is to ensure the respect for human rights of immigrants in an irregular situation and those of their families; the non-criminalization of irregular migration; the establishment of minimum requirements that do not go against the constitutional principle of freedom of movement; the prevention of violation of rights of groups with special needs for protection; and the application of the principles of consistency and co-responsibility.



Patria Grande (National Program for Migrant Documents Regularization)

The Argentinean National Migration Directorate established via its disposition N. 53253/2005 a "National Program for Migrant Documents Regularization", which was also called "Patria Grande". This programme was arranged to regularize the immigration status of natives of foreign countries belongining to MERCOSUR (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) and their associate member countries (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname), that were residing in Argentina prior to April 17th, 2006.
