Coordination Centers for Sea Fisheries Workers

There are measures to prevent human trafficking in the fishery industry by establishing Coordination Centers for Sea Fishery Workers with the purpose to coordinate whose workers are allowed to work legally, to set up a system for controlling, monitoring and protecting workers as well as to provide knowledge to employers and workers to acknowledge their rights, as well as to prevent labour shortage and forced labour as a form of human trafficking.

Support to Returning Migrant Workers

The Government of Thailand pays special attention to returning workers from overseas employment. If they fail to get a job or get lower wages, the government will facilitate accessible labor market services and provide career counseling services to enable them to get the right job matching with their qualifications and employers’ demands.

The UAE’s National Qualifications Authority, still faces the challenge of appropriate assessment tools to verify migrants’ qualifications, because of the proliferation of individual certification systems in the many countries of origin of its foreign contract workers.

"Make it in Germany" - Web Portal

In Germany the web portal “Make it in Germany” is the first check for foreign workers, and German advisers are also posted abroad (India, Indonesia and Vietnam) to provide information and advice to those wishing to go to Germany. Responsibility for this could also be shared between countries of origin and destination, and be included in labour agreements.

Directorate for Togolese Abroad

A Directorate for Togolese Abroad (that grew out of a diaspora unit within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation) has made diaspora engagement part of their national development plan—the Strategy for Accelerated Growth and Employment Promotion (SCAPE). 

Bureau for Diaspora Relations

Moldova has recently established a Bureau for Diaspora Relations, aiming to coordinate the implementation of state policy in relations with the diaspora, contributing, in this way, to the preservation and promotion of the ethnic, cultural and linguistic identity of Moldovans abroad, as well as turning to good account the human and material potential of diaspora.
