In sub-Saharan Africa and in particular in Ghana, adverse drivers of migration include natural and human-made crises, rural poverty, food insecurity, inequality, unemployment, lack of social protection as well as natural resources depletion due to environmental degradation and climate change, which are some underlying causes of out migration.

The PRA/OSIM (Programme d'Appui aux Organisations de SolidaritÈ Internationale issues de l'Immigration) was founded in 2003 by FORIM and continues to support projects run by the diaspora in France. The PRA/OSIM is a national program for strengthening, supporting, co-financing and capitalizing on local development projects run by International Solidarity Organizations of immigrant origin (OSIM).

As a follow-up to the pilot on the equity impact of job growth tied to green investments realized with C40 Cities in 2021, the City of Milan will launch a second phase of the project aiming to develop a flagship programme on public housing retrofits and construction.
