eMigrate Project

eMigrate project is a transformational initiative of the Overseas Employment Division of MEA, Government of India, to automate the current emigration processes and eco-system.

The ministry has undertaken this transformational e-governance program with a vision to transform emigration into a simple, transparent, orderly and humane process.

Maintenance of Social Security Rights Recommendation, 1983 (No. 167)

The recommendation contains provisions with regard to the maintenance of rights in social security. It supplements the Equality of Treatment Convention No.118 (1962) and the Maintenance of Social Security Rights Convention No.157 (1982). 

In addition, with a view to facilitating the conclusion of the agreements envisaged by these instruments and their coordination at the international level, it expresses the necessity to promote the conclusion of bilateral or multilateral social security instruments between States.

Migration for Employment Recommendation (Revised), 1949 (No. 86)

This Recommendation supplements the Migration for Employment Convention (Revised 1949), No.97 by including provisions for migrants who are refugees and displaced persons.

The Recommendation contains guidance on, among other matters, the organization of the free service provided to assist migrants and the types of assistance that it should provide, as well as the information that  States should make available to the ILO. It provides for the regulation of intermediaries undertaking the recruitment, introduction or placing of migrants for employment.

Bureau of Migration Asylum

The Bureau of Migration and Asylum (BMA) is a subdivision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), which main attribution is control of immigration process in Moldova. The IOM collaboration with the BMA stared back in 2000s, when BMA was subordinated to the Government. The BMA underwent a series of reforms, which led to restructuring of its main attributions and subordination to the MIA.  The IOM supported BMA during this process, especially in the readmission domain and improving the irregular migrants’ conditions of stay in the Migrant Accommodation Center of the BMA.

Budapest Process

Budapest Process is a good example of cooperation between countries of two regions; Europe and Asia. A successful process, it gathers over 50 countries and more than ten international organisations. It aims to foster dialogue and share best practices in managing migration flows in order to achieve concrete and results-oriented outcomes.

Almaty Process

The Almaty Process aims to address the multiple challenges resulting from complex migration dynamics and mixed migratory movements in Central Asia and the wider region, in a cooperative and coordinated manner.

The Almaty Process promotes sustained dialogue and exchange of information on migration issues and on refugee protection challenges such as, but not limited to:

  • Irregular migration
  • Human Trafficking
  • Migrant Vulnerabilities
  • Migrant Integration
  • Human Mobility
  • Human Rights of Migrants.
