The Saphan Siang (Bridge of Voices) campaign promotes better understanding between Thais and migrant workers by increasing public awareness on the issues faced by migrant workers, their positive contribution to Thailand’s economy and society, and their right to equal protection under the law and in practical access to support services. The campaign seeks to achieve this goal by creating opportunities for interaction between Thais and migrants.
In 2010, UN Women helped the Government of Bangladesh in 2010 to establish its first Resource Center so women who wished to migrate could easily obtain correct information. Workshops and radio broadcasts have made women more aware of their rights. UN Women helped develop and broadcast a 26-episode programme on national radio in local dialects.
A substantial change introduced by the new law on Foreigners and International Protection (Law No. 6458) in 2013 is the centralization of migration policy development within a newly created General Directorate for Migration Management (GDMM). The Directorate will serve as a coordinating force for implementation of the new law, taking over from and adding duties to those of the General Directorate of Security. The GDMM’s responsibilities are wide ranging.
The government of Morocco has changed the law on social housing so that foreigners who meet the conditions that have to be met by Moroccans (in terms of income, etc.) can have access to low-cost and social housing, which is subsidized by the State.
The project goal is to help reduce the vulnerability of migrants' children to different social risks by raising the public awareness and developing the capacities of children, parents and professionals to respond appropriately to the consequences of migration. The OSCE and the Child Rights Information Centre (CRIC) have been working with governments and with local authorities to promote to support the so-called "social orphans" in Moldova, which put the children left behind under the guardianship of the State in public institutions.
Jointly financed by the European Union (EU) and Terre des hommes, the “Tamkine-Migrants” project principally aims at improving access to healthcare and educational services and for justice for migrant women and children from the Sub-Sahara. In Morocco, the project is carried out with the Associations « Medecins du Monde » Belgium, the Moroccan Association for Solidarity and Development (AMSED) and the Association for Fight against AIDS (ALCS), in partnership with the Ministry of Health, National Mutual Aid.
In April 2015, the EU and Morocco launched a project on "Promoting Integration of migrants in Morocco", funded by the EU in the framework of the EU-Morocco Mobility Partnership, and to support Morocco’s National Strategy for Immigration and Asylum.
The campaign starting at the beginning of 2014 until January 2015, conducted a legalization process of undocumented migrants as recommended by the National Human Rights Council (CNDH). Around 18,000 undocumented migrants who wished to stay in Morocco were regularized and received a residence permit thanks to this program.
As Nicaraguan labor migrants have consolidated in specific economic niches, and as immigration levels have stabilized, the Costa Rican government has shifted its focus from enforcement to integration. Passage of the General Law on Migration and Foreigners in 2010 and subsequent executive decrees in 2011-13 have constituted the most recent steps toward creating a comprehensive policy framework on immigration, together with a action plan.
With the financial inclusion program introduced in 2014, India has managed to open more than 118 millions account in less than a year. Regarding migration (both domestic and international migration), the program has connected payment banking networks with the mobile companies so that the remittances can travel faster.
