Patria Grande (National Program for Migrant Documents Regularization)

The Argentinean National Migration Directorate established via its disposition N. 53253/2005 a "National Program for Migrant Documents Regularization", which was also called "Patria Grande". This programme was arranged to regularize the immigration status of natives of foreign countries belongining to MERCOSUR (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) and their associate member countries (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname), that were residing in Argentina prior to April 17th, 2006.

New Immigration Code (Greece)

According to the new Immigration Code, third-country nationals legally residing in Greece are entitled to free movement and establishment all over the country. They enjoy the same rights as nationals concerning social security and social protection. Migrant minors are subject to obligatory school attendance as nationals and they enjoy free access to all activities within the educational communities at all levels of education.

Human Resources Modalities

Phillipines has signed an agreement for human resources modalities with four provinces in Canada. It has been clarified that immigration consultancy costs are unnecesary; hiring immigration consultant itself is not a requirement by the Canadian government.

Labour Migration Policy (Nigeria) II

  • Protection of migrant workers and promotion of their welfare and that of families left behind;

Live-In Caregiver Program (LCP)

The Program permits Canadian families to hire workers from abroad to provide care to a child, an elderly person or an adult with disabilities. Caregivers are obliged to work for two years and afterwards they and their immediate families abroad become eligible to apply for permanent residence. The LCP is the only federal program providing direct access to permanent residence for TFWs with lower skill levels.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

The main objective of this program is to attract skilled workers who can succeed in the Canadian economy. It was established to serve the Canadian labour market. The key is to recognize different certification processes for industrial, electrical and construction, equipment operation, natural resources, agricultural and utilities sectors.

Bilateral Employment Agreements (Albania)

Albania established a good recruitment scheme for the Albanian labour force for employment in Italy and Germany, from the moment of arrival of the manpower requirements of the receiving party, the publication of the requirements, the registration, the selection, interviewing and training according to the required professional standards.

Colombo Process

The Colombo Process is a Regional Consultative Process on the management of overseas employment and contractual labour for countries of origins in Asia. According to best estimates, over 2.5 million Asian workers leave their countries every year under contract to work abroad. A large proportion of workers from South and Southeast Asia head for the Gulf States to perform various types of service, trade and construction jobs, while others move to North America, Europe and Asian countries.
