In 2017 Germany held a “Living Together Hand in Hand—Shaping Local Communities” competition with an eye towards deepening immigrant integration into civic life. The federal competition aims at supporting municipalities as a local management level for social cohesion and integration. 

The governments of the Republic of the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Germany signed two new labor agreements to enhance partnerships for the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the healthcare industry and other professional services.

It ensures equality of treatment and social protection for migrant workers. The BLA also applies social dialogue by ensuring that inclusion of trade unions from both the countries of origin and destination (PSLINK/Philippines and Ver.di/Germany) in the oversight committee.

In the framework of the EUROMED Migration V project, trainings to sensitise journalists and media professionals about the benefits of promoting a balanced narrative on migration are organised. Public Communicatorsí Workshops are developed to highlight the central role of public communicators in informing the public debate on migration, and in shaping people's perceptions of migration.

The project ARTIST TRAINING is a qualification program offered by the UdK Berlin Career College aimed at the qualification, consulting, and networking of artists in exile. Since 2016, 47 modules have provided information and contacts for about 700 participants from the following fields: music, fine arts, performing arts, film and in the beginning also culture and media. Otherwise there are networking events and consulting sessions.

In many countries, people are currently experiencing restrictions on their cultural development that mean they have to or want to leave these countries. Against this background, the Senate has set out to strengthen the social and cosmopolitan orientation of the metropolis of Berlin.

Aware of the divisive potential of an increasing polarized public discourse on migration, the project will pool lessons from selected awareness-raising campaigns on migration. Such analysis will offer evidence-based grounds to develop innovative prototypes of awareness-raising/edutainment formats in collaboration with communication experts at the national level, including University faculties of semiotics, communication and marketing, schools of journalism/TV/radio and art.

In collaboration with the African diaspora in Europe, WIDU applies an innovative approach that combines funding and coaching to strengthen new and existing small businesses in Africa, which then leads to the creation of new jobs.

WIDU.africa works in close collaboration with different African diaspora organisations and associations based in Europe. This partnership is vital for the implementation of WIDU.africa and the success of the project as they create a bridge between the WIDU.africa project and its most important actors ñ the diaspora members.

The German Platform for the Reconstruction in Ukraine is a German government website where non-governmental organisations and agencies based in Germany which want to participate in the reconstruction in Ukraine can find information and contacts. It offers space for information-sharing and networking for actors in Germany who are engaged in the reconstruction of Ukraine, including diaspora civil society actors

Making migration and mobility positive forces for development
1. Bring together representatives of diaspora communities and governments of countries of origin and destination for round-table debates on sharing best practices and on recognising the role and needs of diaspora communities in development and investment in countries of origin as well as in integration in the host societies.

Recognizing the important role of cities in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the City of Mannheim has developed the “Mannheim 2030” Mission Statement to put into practce the 17 UN sustainability goals. The Mission Statement was developed through a large-scale public participation process, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Engagement Global's Service Agency Communities in One World. The Migration Advisory Board was part of this participatory process.
