On 26 October 2015, within the framework of the IOM Conference on Migrants and Cities, the JMDI, jointly with IOM, launched the “White Paper on Mainstreaming Migration into Local Development Planning and Beyond” at a side event held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

The International Recruitment Integrity System (IRIS) is an international voluntary “ethical recruitment” framework that benefits all stakeholders in the labour migration process.  IRIS provides a platform for addressing unfair recruitment and bridge international regulatory gaps governing labour recruitment in countries of origin and destination.

NORMLEX is a new information system which brings together information on International Labour Standards (such as ratification information, reporting requirements, comments of the ILO's supervisory bodies, etc.) as well as national labour and social security laws.

NORMLEX has been designed to provide comprehensive and user friendly information on these topics and includes the NATLEX database as well as the information which was previously contained in the former APPLIS, ILOLEX and Libsynd databases.

On June 19, 2014 a civil society agenda on the inclusion of migrants and migration in the post-2015 development framework was launched by the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) in partnership with civil society networks Global Coalition on Migration, NGO Committee on Migration New York, and MADE, with the endorsement of over 100 additional organizations.

The post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction was adopted at the Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, held from 14 to 18 March 2015 in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan, which represented a unique opportunity for countries to:

(a) Adopt a concise, focused, forward-looking and action-oriented post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction;

(b) Complete the assessment and review of the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015: Building Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters;

The EMP report is a country-owned tool, prepared in consultation with a broad range of government and non-government stakeholders, to be used to enhance policy coherence, evidence-based policymaking and the mainstreaming of migration into development planning.   

Since many organizations work on migration issues but use different definitions and terminologies, this project was carried out to provide a common and media-friendly uses of migration terms. It has also been expected to be a basis for real discussion between international organizations and to foster further dialogues. 

The Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families seeks to promote the human and labour rights of migrant domestic workers worldwide by addressing the challenges that make migrant domestic workers particularly vulnerable to the risks of exploitation and abuse.

At the multilateral level, the Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA), is a partnership hosted and administered by the World Health Organization, provides a forum for governments, NGOs, international organizations, donors, academic institutions, professional associations and workers to search for solutions to the current "crisis" in the health workforce. 

Under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), the movement of natural persons is one of the four ways through which services can be supplied internationally. Otherwise known as “Mode 4”, it covers natural persons who are either service suppliers (such as independent professionals) or who work for a service supplier and who are present in another WTO member to supply a service. It is a multilateral framework available on a non-discriminatory basis to all WTO Member States.
