Swedish programme to Promote Foreign Entrepreneurship

In Sweden, a three-year programme to promote entrepreneurship among people with a foreign background was initiated in 2008 by the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications and implemented by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional growth (NUTEK). It includes specific measures to increase banks’ awareness of the needs of migrant business owners in order to facilitate the extension of loans to those clients.

The Home Development Mutual Fund (abbreviated as HDMF), more popularly known as the Pag-IBIG Fund, is a Philippine government-owned and controlled corporation under the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development responsible for the administration of the national savings program and affordable shelter financing for Filipinos employed by local and foreign-based employers as well as voluntary and self-employed members. It offers its members short-term loans and access to housing programs.

Ghanacoop is a social cooperative promoting the competences of Ghanaian migrants residing in the Province of Modena, Italy. The cooperative was created through IOM's Migration for Development in Africa (MIDA) programme, which supports migrant diasporas wishing to invest in their country through skills transfer and new enterprises,

The Ghanaian diaspora have partnered with local government and local business to set up agrarian cooperatives back home, which in turn trade their produce with the community in Italy.

Coordination Centers for Sea Fisheries Workers

There are measures to prevent human trafficking in the fishery industry by establishing Coordination Centers for Sea Fishery Workers with the purpose to coordinate whose workers are allowed to work legally, to set up a system for controlling, monitoring and protecting workers as well as to provide knowledge to employers and workers to acknowledge their rights, as well as to prevent labour shortage and forced labour as a form of human trafficking.

Thailand - Israel Cooperation on the Placement of Workers: TIC

The Department of Employment of Thailand has started to send workers from the agricultural sector to Israel under the Thailand-Israel Employment Cooperation (TIC) secured via an Agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This scheme benefits the workers and reduces the cost for all Thai workers overseas.
