ENIGMMA project

Within the EU-funded ENIGMMA project, implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), project team together with Georgian state institutions and stakeholders in the destination country started a practice of joint development of legal residence guidelines for Georgian migrants in several destination countries (Greece, Spain and Italy). On the Georgian side, the Georgian Diaspora department within MFA is involved, alongside the State Commission on Migration Issues, the Consular Department of MFA, and consular services abroad.

Migrant and Refugee Orientation Centre

The Migrant and Refugee Orientation Centre is a place both to meet and to receive support, aimed at all groups and communities that make up the multicultural society of the City of Buenos Aires. It seeks to centralize activities of State bodies and civil organizations and promote initiatives, meeting the needs and demands of migrants and refugees. Its activities are divided into 3 main areas: 1) Guidance and support; 2) Job training; and 3) Sport and recreation.

 

Municipal Action Plan - City of Oujda

The City of Oujda has created a Municipal Action Plan that includes migration and migrants as one of its six strategic axes, together with Local Governance, Partnership and Decentralized Cooperation,  Basic Infrastructures and Proximity Facilities,  Environment and Sustainable Energy, and Investissement Capacities and Development of Competitive Potential.

Mainstreaming the General Principles and Operational Guidelines for Fair Recruitment

The ILO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Fruit and Vegetable Alliance (AHIFORES) to carry out joint work on mainstreaming the General Principles and Operational Guidelines for Fair Recruitment in Mexico. They inded to cooperate on the certification scheme "DEAR", as well as developing a tool box to address recruitment practices in horticulture and vegetable supply chains in partnership with Verité.

Management of municipal and regional migration challenges

The program management of municipal and regional migration challenges project in Niger, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and European Union (EU), supports selected regional and local level authorities to better understand social, economic political and administrative Impact of migration on the ground and supports the implementation of identified development measures. In Niger, 17 municipalities and 3 regions have set up local observatories.

Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative

The Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative (GRSI) is a joint initiative led by the Government of Canada; the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); the Open Society Foundations; the Giustra Foundation; and the University of Ottawa, which works to share good practices and support the creation of new programs to assit countries around the world to open new pathways for refugee protection through community sponsorship programs. 

NGO Committee on Migration

Established in 2006, the NGO Committee on Migration is a committee of non-governmental organisations, which has consultative status with the ECOSOC. The Committee brings together over 50 NGOs who seek to realize justice for migrants, refugees, stateless persons, internally displaced persons, and trafficked persons.
