The Philippine government, along with their partners from the civil society organizations, private institutions, and international organizations, has continuously strived to integrate gender in the migration-related legislation. This led to the recent passing of the Republic Act 10801, known as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Law (this May 2016), a new legislation promoting gender responsive migration.

German-Moroccan partnership on asylum and international refugee protection

Context

Morocco is no longer just a country of emigration – it is also a host country. An increasing number of people who are forced to flee their homes in other countries now seek asylum in Morocco. The number of people seeking asylum here has tripled in recent years. In April 2015 the figure stood at 2,937 – with the majority coming from Syria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Côte d’Ivoire. This development poses major challenges for the country.

3S Initiative

The Initiative on Sustainability, Stability and Security (3S) is an inter-governmental initiative that aims to present an African perspective on migration and instability linked to natural resources.

Alert level classification system

The Philippines Alert level classification system essentially classifies the degree of threat and of immediate danger that the migrant worker is facing. The system serves as an advisor to all affected Filipino workers by instructing them on what to do to keep them safe and secure in times of crises. n accordance with the established protocols on international relations, the Crisis Alert Levels, with their respective indicators and deployment status, are:

National plan to combat racism, similar forms of hostility and hate crime

The government of Sweden has adopted a "National Plan to Combat Racism, Similar forms of hostility and Hate Crime".  The plan identifies a number of strategic areas, including education and research, improved coordination and monitoring, greater support for and more in-depth dialogue with civil society, strengthening preventive measures online, and a more active legal system.  

National Action Plan and National Referral Mechanism of Zambia

A. Need of awareness raising and building understanding 

Zambia has developed the Facilitator’s Manual, Participant’s Handbook, Guidelines and the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) to facilitate capacity building of first line officials to spearhead the implementation of the national action plans for migration related SDGs.  To this extent about one thousand eight hundred (1,800) Frontline officers have been trained in mixed migration.
