EU Immigration Portal

The EU Immigration Portal serves as a first point of entry to reliable, practical and up-to-date information on immigration issues. It provides useful basic information written in user-friendly language and gives rapid and direct access to relevant external websites for further information. In concrete terms, the portal helps potential migrants to:

- Better understand the EU admission rules and procedures;

- Identify job and study opportunities;

- Find information on the rights of non-EU citizens who are in the EU;

Integrating Migrant Worker Resource Centres into Employment Service Centres in Vietnam

In Vietnam, Migrant Worker Resource Centres (MRCs) were established in the employment service centres run by the Provincial Department of Labour in 2011. This model of an integrated service offers ample opportunity for scale and sustainability. It is estimated that 20% of job seekers that visit the employment service centers are interested in working outside of the country.

"Make it in Germany" - Web Portal

In Germany the web portal “Make it in Germany” is the first check for foreign workers, and German advisers are also posted abroad (India, Indonesia and Vietnam) to provide information and advice to those wishing to go to Germany. Responsibility for this could also be shared between countries of origin and destination, and be included in labour agreements.

Returning Nationals Secretariat

The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has a Returning Nationals Secretariat, which offers assistance and services to returnees such as help finding jobs, locating housing and getting access to other social services. They also offer guidance and essential information, assistance navigating the relocation bureaucracy and counselling where necessary. 

Nationals who have lived abroad for at least ten years qualify for certain tax exemptions upon returning.

International Citizen Service

The International Citizen Service is a “one-stop-shop” that offers services to migrant workers, job-seekers and their families. It offers help with paperwork, personal career guidance, useful information about living and working conditions in Denmark, and authorization and approval of professional qualifications for regulated professions. 

Citizen Information Centers (Medborgarkontor)

Local authorities provide various integration services for immigrants, including language training (SFI - Swedish for immigrants) and provide legal aid. Some local authorities also run medborgarkontor (citizen information centers) in areas with high numbers of migrants, which provide individual assistance to migrants on how to navigate local bureaucracies, apply for benefits and find housing.

Pre-Departure Handbooks

For pre- departure orientation, the Bangladesh government has, with an international partner, introduced destination-specific, pocket-size handbooks containing key information about the law, culture, language, emergency contacts, remittance transfer method etc. of the destination country.
