Colombia has faced the second largest migratory crisis in the world with Bogotá being the Latin American and Caribbean capital with the most Venezuelan migrants in its territory. Currently there are around 397.716 venezuelan migrants in Bogotá, 21.7% of the total migrant population in Colombia.

Health coverage for citizens who move abroad

Some countries offer health coverage for their citizens who move abroad, e.g. Sri Lanka and the Philippines.

The PhilHealth program for OFWs allows members to avail themselves of PhilHealth benefits even if they are confined in hospitals abroad. At the same time, their qualified dependents in the Philippines may avail themselves of the benefits even if the principal is working overseas.

Artistic Mobility Fund in Africa

Africa Art Lines Association is a fund that allows artists and cultural operators carrying artistic projects between Morocco and other African countries to benefit from grants for their travel expenses, thus promoting labor mobility and cultural awareness. Africa Art Lines accepts artists and cultural professionals living and working within the continent and holding projects related to Morocco.

IOM campaign "migrants as messengers"

Migrants as Messengers is a peer-to-peer messaging campaign by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) where returning migrants share with their communities and families the dangers, trauma, and abuse that many experienced while attempting irregular migration.  From smartphones to social media platforms and social networks, returning migrants from Senegal, Guinea, and Nigeria share their stories to generate awareness and provide advice and information on misconceptions about living abroad.

Digitalizing migrant worker's remittances

This highly innovative project works to digitize migrant workers’ remittances both in Malaysia and in countries of origin through e-wallets (wallet-based mobile-enabled remittance system), thus providing remittance recipients access to additional financial services that meet their needs. It aims to link mobile-enabled remittances with digital financial services offered by third parties at the receiving end in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Egyptian-Jordanian Cooperation in the Field of Labor Management

The joint cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in the field of labor management aims at creating a safe, fair and stable work environment for Egyptian workers in Jordan and their employers. The Egyptian Ministry of Manpower and Immigration and the Jordanian Ministry of Labour are the main stakeholders. They are jointly responsible for the implementation of the 2007 Memorandum of Understating (MoU) and the 2016 Labor Agreement and managing the jointly-established channels of communication, as well as consultation mechanism.

National Migration Policy

Ghana formally launched a comprehensive National Policy on Migration and an implementation plan in Accra on 5 April 2016 with support from IOM. 

The comprehensive policy will guide the management of the country’s internal, intra-regional and international migration flows. Its aim is to promote the benefits and minimize the costs of internal and international migration through legal means with the rights and security of migrants well respected in order to ensure socio-economic development in Ghana.

IASCI-NEXUS Moldova

IASCI-NEXUS Moldova is an initative encompassing private sector, migrants' interest and local public administration in order to give direct advice and counseling to the migrants to reduce all plausible risks and provide assistance to migrants to manage their costs. The overall objective of NEXUS Moldova is to foster links between migration and development at the local level, by developing durable capacities and systematic collaboration among national and sub-national authorities, civil society and private-sector stakeholders
